I’m Ready For My Close-Up

Like most good things, it started on a Saturday afternoon.

A contest offering a chance to win a lifetime supply of movie tickets by simply recreating your favorite movie scenes? Okay, yeah, we’re in. One after another the ideas came pouring out and our little project quickly culminated into an entire series of stills depicting the films that not only had left a lasting impact on us, but also all happened to harbor strong female roles.

Women who found escapism through music and daydreaming, women who stole $40,000 in order to run away with their boyfriends, women who boldly used the power of seduction to their advantage, women who moved to the city of angels hopeful in their quest for fame, the ones who were lusted after for the wrong reasons, the ones who were lusted after for the “right” reasons, and the ones who repeatedly found themselves on the brink of a breakdown – and liked it.

This series is a tribute to them and our impressions of the characters in which they evoked on the silver screen.

The Victim

“Oh, I don’t know. I guess I’m looking for a private island someplace where I can be alone and no one can find me.”

The Vixen

“You know I don’t like to wear any underwear, don’t you, Nick?”

The Obsession

“It was love at first sight, at last sight, at ever and ever sight.”

The Manipulater

“Life is ridiculous. And you know that I would never say anything bad about your father in front of you, but your father is a sick son-of-a bitch. “

The Enigma

“Lyings the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off – but it’s better if you do”

The Hopeful

“Of course, I’d rather be known as a great actress than a movie star. But, you know, sometimes people end up being both. So that is, I guess you’d say, sort of why I came here.”

Cheers to the women who made us feel a little deeper and ponder the universe a little more than we had before. We’re forever inspired by your spirits.

The End
